Donate - Ginger Teddy
Cat Rescue Christchurch are seeking donations of any amount to help cover Ginger Teddy's $800 ear surgery vet bill. Can you help us?
We are a small charity who relies on donations from generous people and fundraising efforts by our all-volunteer team to cover our costs, most of which is vet bills.
Ginger Teddy was a colony cat who Cat Rescue rescued in 2010 and rehomed, but sadly Teddy was returned recently because he was sick and needed vet treatment which they could no longer afford. He had a nasty middle ear infection and a chest infection. Antibiotics cleared up the chest infection but multiple courses (and different kinds) of antibiotics unfortunately did not clear up the ear infection. Our vet did further tests and found he had a very resistant strain of bacteria in his middle ear and the only way to remove the problem and prevent any further discomfort was to surgically remove his inner ear. This is not something we take lightly at Cat Rescue Christchurch but it was the only option we had to ensure in the future he would remain ear-infection free. The surgery was carried out last week and since it was a tricky procedure, was costly, but it was necessary.
Ginger Teddy is recovering well from the operation and once fully recovered we hope to find him a forever home. He still has his outer ear so he looks normal on the outside, he's just deaf in one ear. He has a lovely personality though he unfortunately does have a sneezing issue because of the bad case of cat flu he had in the past.
Thank you for your kind donation!
